The council chairman announced a ₦1.2 billion renovation plan covering all twelve primary health centres in the local government area, with work expected to be completed within eighteen months.
The plan includes new maternity wards, solar-powered refrigeration for vaccines, and the recruitment of additional nursing staff. Community health workers have welcomed the move, noting that some centres have not seen renovation in over a decade.
Opposition councillors have called for an independent audit of the contract award process, which the chairman says he welcomes.
