Royal Archive Digitised: Century of Chieftaincy Records Now Online
By Tamuno Wokoma· 3 July 2026
The royal archive has completed digitisation of chieftaincy records dating back more than a century, making the documents available to researchers online for the first time.
The records include succession disputes, land allocation decisions, and correspondence with colonial administrators, offering historians a rare continuous account of the kingdom's governance.
'A lot of our written history sat in one room, vulnerable to fire or flood. Now it exists in a form nothing can destroy,' said palace archivist Somiari Green.
