Tinubu’s Tough Decisions Beginning to Yield Results, Says TSTA

By Wakirike Herald
The Tinubu Shettima Team and Advocates (TSTA), a political support group, has urged Nigerians to support policies of the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda, arguing that some of the administration’s difficult economic decisions are beginning to produce positive results.
The group’s National Coordinator, Mr Nathaniel Dosunmu, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
Dosunmu said decisions including the removal of petrol subsidy and the floating of the naira were difficult measures that, in the group’s assessment, were necessary to reposition the Nigerian economy.
According to him, President Bola Tinubu inherited significant economic and governance challenges when he assumed office in 2023 and had to choose between maintaining existing policies and implementing major reforms.
“Tinubu had two options. One is to toe the line of previous administrations or take tough decisions that on the long run will re-position the country.”
TSTA defends subsidy removal and naira reforms
Dosunmu argued that the economic situation confronting the country at the beginning of the administration required difficult choices.
He listed unemployment, economic pressures, naira depreciation and exchange-rate distortions among the challenges he said had affected Nigerians.
The TSTA coordinator acknowledged that the reforms had been painful for citizens but maintained that the group believes they are beginning to produce positive outcomes.
“He opted for the narrow part which, though has been painful to the people, these decisions are beginning to yield positive results,” he said.
On the removal of petrol subsidy, Dosunmu said the policy had increased revenues available to states and local government areas through the Federation Account.
He also claimed that quarterly allocations from the Federal Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) had increased significantly.
Group points to investment opportunities
The political support group also identified solid minerals, aerospace and the blue economy as sectors it said had been opened to greater participation by local and foreign investors.
Dosunmu described President Tinubu as a leader who, in the view of the group, had demonstrated the courage and capacity to address Nigeria’s longstanding economic challenges.
He expressed confidence that the administration would continue to pursue policies aimed at improving Nigeria’s position among nations.
However, the claims made by the support group represent its political assessment of the administration’s performance. The wider impact of the reforms, including their effects on household incomes, inflation, employment, investment and living standards, remains a subject of continuing public and economic debate.
TSTA backs Tinubu for another term
The group also expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, with Senator Abdul’Aziz Yari as Director-General.
Dosunmu pledged TSTA’s continued support for the political campaign to secure the re-election of President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
He said the group had developed what he described as new, results-oriented campaign strategies designed to improve on its mobilisation and voter-enlightenment efforts ahead of the next election.
According to him, TSTA intends to intensify its campaign for the administration and persuade voters to support Tinubu’s re-election.
For Nigerians, however, the central test of the government’s reforms will ultimately be measured not only by increased public revenues or new investment opportunities, but by whether those changes translate into improved livelihoods, stronger public services, greater economic opportunity and a more stable national economy.
