Youth Wing Threatens Boycott Over Delayed Ward Delineation Exercise
By Tamuno Wokoma· 6 July 2026
The youth wing of the ruling party has threatened to boycott the next local council election unless the electoral commission completes a ward delineation exercise that has been pending for over two years.
Youth leader Preye Amachree said the delay has left several fast-growing settlements without proper representation. 'Some of these communities have doubled in population and still vote as part of a ward drawn thirty years ago,' he said.
The state electoral office says the exercise is 'in its final stages' and should be completed before the next registration window opens.
